RNC-OB With only PP experience

Published

Specializes in PP Mother/Baby.

I'm interested in getting certified.  I see the exam covers antepartum and LD.

I have worked in PP for 4 years and started there as a new grad. So it is all I know!

I'm curious if anyone else went through the certification process who also had only experience in PP.

I have a small working knowledge of pregnancy and labor/ birth complications and treatments. (Which seems to be the majority of the test)

If you were in my boat... how did it go? And how long did it take you to prepare?

Thank You!

Hi KerriT3 -

RNC-OB is more suited to a nurse who has extensive experience in intrapartum. Did you know that NCC has a certification in Maternal Newborn Nursing (RNC-MNN)? That might be a better option for you.

Specializes in Maternal Newborn.

From my understanding you can't take the exam if you don't work in that area. I would suggest the RNC-MNN exam. I recently took the exam in February and passed. It felt a lot like NCLEX and I had no idea how I did afterwards. I took the Triple S review course and found it to be very comprehensive. Best wishes!!
