Have you gotten your RNC OB within the last two years? If so, how did you prepare for it? Please include the types of classes or study materials you used. It sounds like a pretty comprehensive test, so I'm wondering how I should study/prepare for it.

Hi! I recently took RNC Inpatient OB certification test on 02/06/19 and passed. I used a combination of inpatient review heres the link

Also used manual of obstetric book to help. So i registered to take the test. Started reading book and studying about 1 or 2 hours 3 times a week until my exam date. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have!

How long did you take to prepare for this exam? How many years were you a RN? I am coming up on 2 years and would like to take it by May.

I took a 2 day prep course with PEC/Rebecca Cypher and don't know that I would have passed without it. I had 4 years of experience when I sat for it.

I took it shortly after I had 2 years of experience. I took a prep class that is local to the state I live in. I took the test the morning after the last day of class, just so it all was fresh. I had an AWHONN Perinatal Nursing book I had been casually skimming through, but honestly the class helped way more. And though the Perinatal book is great, it is not as strong in dealing with more high-risk pregnancy issues that are also on the test. (Maybe because AWHONN also has a high risk and critical care ob book - I have the book but haven't had a chance to read it yet.)
The teacher knew the test so well, so emphasized important things. More than that, she really had a lot to say about best practice - I actually thought it was beneficial that I took it early in my career because it really emphasized the "right" way to do things.

How did you find the prep class?

How many choices did you have for the multiple choice questions? Some review tests I have been taking have 3 choices and some have 4. Just wondering what my odds are if I don't know a question and have make an educated guess!

I used MedEdSeminars online class, but I did some review in the books too. Simpson's Perinatal is good, but it's outdated in some areas and there is a new version coming out in March. Gabbe's Obstetrics Normal and Problem Pregnancies Essentials is excellent. I didn't use the AWHONN High Risk and Critical Care one much though. I took the test today and passed.
