AWHONN has an interesting webinar in their education area titled, Weeding Through Perinatal Issues with Marijuana Legalization. That might be of interest to you?

How many choices did you have for the multiple choice questions? Some review tests I have been taking have 3 choices and some have 4. Just wondering what my odds are if I don't know a question and have make an educated guess!
  3. Plattsburgh is not flat, it is in the heart of the Adirondack mountains.
  4. So..did you go to Plattsburgh and if you did, how did you like it? I have lived in Plattsburgh for 30 years now but was originally from Arizona. Believe me, you get use to the snow and cold. The area is beautiful and there is variety within an hour or so in every direction(Burlington, Vt to the East, Montreal, Quebec to the North and Lake Placid to the west) The people here are very friendly and the hospital is growing ands strong. Best of luck in whatever you do:)
  5. Thank you for your prompt reply. We have generally ordered ibuprofen 600 mgm q4 prn and Tylenol#3 1-2 tabs prn along with dibucaine ointment, dermoplast spray, dulcolx suppository, percolace and ice pads prn for lady partsl deliveries. For c-sections we use Tylenol #3 1-2 tabs q3-4 hours prn and Ibuprophen 600mgm po q4 x24 hours along with ivp or IM( depending on the provider) morphine or Demerol. We also provide them with stool softener options, tucs for hemorrhoid relief and generally some anti nausea med. I think our mess our probably sufficient, I am believing it is more our staffs reluctance to provide these mess that is, unfortunately, the issue! As we begin to address the problem, I want to make sure I cover all our bases though:)
  6. We are researching what pain medication modalities are used for post partum pain control across the country. Currently, for lady partsl deliveries what does your facility use? And for c-sections, what is your most common routine? It seems recently that our patients are complaining of inadequate pain control so we want to see if we might be able to consider a better plan. Thanks so much for any input you might have!
  7. I was looking for some information about practice guidelines concerning infection control in the L&D, Newborn Nursery and Mother/Baby settings. We have a policy that has been in place for at least 18 years and renewed from time to time but no real changes have ever been made. Our policy states that a 3 minute scrub will be done at the beginning of every shift in each area. Also, of course, good handwashing using either soap or alcohol foam after each contact. Our policy also includes wearing cover gowns when feeding or holding infants in the nursery. We are also practicing universal precautions with all patients which involves wearing gloves with any contact we have. We are not allowed to wear jewelry( with the exception of a plain wedding band) or watches, our hair must be neatly tied back. Each infant is given its own stethascope(for use in the hospital) and thermometer(to take home.)and disposal b.p cuff. Is this pretty much the routine in your institutions as well? I have been trying to look for evidence based practice (articles ect) but have not had any luck......Please let me know what you all are doing.......
