RNC NICU question

Does your manager have to approve that you have met the requirements before I can test? I'm wishing to do it without people knowing... but is that not possible?

    Not NICU, but I have the RNC-OB, and no, your manager does not have to sign off on anything to apply.

    Deep in the recesses of my mind, I seem to recall that 'someone' had to verify that I had worked in the NICU setting for the requisite amount of time. If you haven't fulfilled that requirement, the testing agency will happily take your application fee, and send you a refusal for your application.

    I feel like I had to input my manager's name and contact information when I applied to take the test because you have to have those 2 years of experience to test. My manager never said anything to me, so who knows. I never told anyone in my unit I was testing either. Good luck if you decide to take your test!

    My understanding is that they may audit some people by actually calling the manager, but they don't call every single application's manager in order to verify, from what I've heard.
