RN Wages in Reno?

Published

I'm originally from California but have been working as an RN in Elko for the last couple of years and have started looking into relocating.

While part of me would like to move back to CA, closer to family, better pay, etc, I've been looking quite a bit into Reno/Sparks lately. Cost of living is far less and it seems like a pretty nice area to raise a family.

Can anyone tell me what kind of wages they pay nurses at Renown or Saint Mary's? While I've heard it's more than Elko, nobody I've talked to thus far seems to have any definitive idea as to how much more. If you also had any ideas on what kind of nurse-to-patient ratios the hospitals use, that'd be great too. I already know what California's are :)

Many thanks!

I left Renown in 2009 and was making 27.xx/hr as a new grad. 10% night diff, no weekend diff. It's probably higher now.

I believe nurses are getting paid at 30 / flat now ... Last time I checked two years ago it was at 29.xx ...

Its the standard going rate these days .

I'm thinking about moving to the Reno area and I have to say $30/hr sounds really good. Especially when you consider I'm now in Florida and new grads are lucky to make $20/hr.
