RN vs NP vs DNP

I am waiting on my acceptance to my school to start the RN program this spring (2012) so I will graduate with a BSN.

My questions is I want to get my DNP later one. Should I work as an RN for 1-2 years then go back to school for my DNP or go straight into the DNP program?

Anyone had any success with the DNP program? I have thought about FNP but I believe that the DNP will get me to the top more than an FNP. Not really sure though. Anyone have any thoughts on DNP vs FNP?

Thanks

A DNP is just a NP with a doctorate...an FNP is a NP that specializes in family care....my goal is to become a DNP/CNM APN.....Doctor of Nurse Practitioning/ Certified Nurse Midwife Advanced Practice Nurse.

My path will be RN(adn)>>CNM/NP(MSN)>>>DNP

If you don't have a degree already then you have to do the RN then the RN to MSN which can get you to NP or DNP depending on the program.
