RN with 457 Visa to PR --- Need Help

Hello,

An RN with a 4 year contract and a 457 visa.. If say after 2 years, he files for PR as an independent skilled migrant (NOT as employer sponsored) and was approved, then at the date of approval, what is now his visa status, will he now automatically be converted to PR status? or is he still a 457 visa holder? or will the PR status takes effect only after the 457 visa expires?

hope anyone has an idea on this..

    Firstly, I have no idea what your abbreviations mean. Could you possibly re-post this in language I can understand?

    Also I doubt anyone can help you here with immigration question. Google Australian and you can probably ring or email them, as I doubt you would get correct information on here anyway.
