First off, hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and stumbled on it while spending hours trying to research my alternatives.
I'm in Vancouver, BC (permanent resident) planning to go for my RN. I'm a mature student with 19 credit hours from a US university, but most of those credits are liberal arts, so I'm not sure what will really count except for the math and English. I know I'll have to take the A&Ps and Psychs- biology was much more than 5 years ago, but I did make an A! lol
When I first started looking, I found that VCC has a relatively new RN BSN program and I spoke to the academic advisers who told me that there was no wait list. I got approved for my student loan, requested all my transcripts and registered as a student. Today (only a week later) I spoke with a different adviser who informed me that not only is there a wait list, but that there are 49 students on it and that they will only be taking 24. VCC only has a fall intake so she told me that if I'm "lucky" I could get in the class of 2012 but likely 2013! ack. I suppose the only positive there is that they are a first come, first serve school so I will eventually move up the list for sure.
In the meantime, the adviser suggested I apply to multiple schools in the Lower Mainland, and choose one to attend for prerequisites while biding my time, hoping for one of them to eventually send me an acceptance. I'm sure many of you are in the same boat. I applied to Douglas and will probably actually attend there because it is much closer to home than VCC, plus they do two intakes per year so that's a plus. Will anyone be attending the Douglas psych or A&P for summer 2011? Would be nice to know someone going in.
So I guess the purpose of my post is to first make contact with anyone else currently waiting out their time, and also to compare any up-to-date info you have on wait lists. As far as Douglas' preferential placement goes, with a max number of points at 14, what is a "good" number of points to have to be competitive? I'm thinking I will have around 8. >
Thanks for reading!
Hahaha. Yeah, my mom offered to swing by my place and check my mail for me, and when its there read the letter to me over skype...Im thinking NO!! Lol. I am pretty sure that they will change online stats pretty fast, and if not by wednesday, I will just call UFV. Good luck on your wait, and let me know as soon as it comes! Good luck, hope you have something to keep you preoccupied lol
sorry, if i'm bombarding you guys with more questions...I paid $200 for my commitment fee but my tuition fee still says $$3,237.35. Under account summary is says "Tuition & Other Payments Held for Future Release $200.00"
Hey MISTEE
just a heads up....I called BCIT today regarding that 200 bucks, she said it "always says that" but try clicking on where it says pay commitment fee...If 200 bucks shows up there, I would just call and get her to run it through. Did you get a fee deferral? She said the 200 was showing on my account but it just hadn't been put through yet...

Just got back from BCIT. She says the commitment fee isn't processed until you pay for your tuition. I checked my tuition balance it's at $0 now.
which explains why mine wasn't processed...my tuition wont be paid until my loan kicks in :)
Neenz I called BCIT enrolment services. They can help you. She told me the payments dont usually go through until closer to the start date, but they do show up on your file....I would call, but that's just me :)
YEAHHHHHHHH......I got into nursing at UFV:yeah:
CONGRATS!! THAT IS SO AWESOME!!:anpom::anpom: Soo did you get your letter, or did you call in? Is there any thing you have to do right aways to confirm your spot? I ask because if there is, I would need to figure out how to do it (if i got in, fingers crossed soo tightly) from Haiti...
But seriously just revel in this amazing moment. You've earned it!!!

Invictus--- I don't know if our status will change? Maybe...just thinking....it won't show anything till they get a response on who is accepting the offer, after the fee is paid, then it may show the status change, i don't know anymore...I keep on trying to guess, and it is driving me insane. I am not calling tomorrow, because i have waited this long, i know it is going to come in the mail, MON,or TUES,or WED, so i am going to do the whole opening the mail thing. I have a whole plan in place for opening the letter---I am going to get the mail, place the letter on the table, make myself a coffee, then sit down and open it by myself... Then, depending on the letter....my plan branches off in two directions,lol......FYI--and writing on this thread is in both branchs,lol.....I know this sounds silly, but i have come this far, i am waiting now
