RN salary in Tulsa, I am confused!

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am a new graduate from and LPN to RN bridge program here in Tulsa, OK. I currently work as an LPN and make around $20 per hour. I have asked around other RN's during clinicals and was told that starting pay for RN's at the local hospitals is only $17. I am confused. Why would I make less as an RN? In Dallas, I was told it would be around $28-30 per hour. I am just wondering what other nurses are making around here. You don't have list your acctual pay. but I am just wondering the average salary/pay for RN's in the tulsa and surrounding areas. I looked on Salary.com but that site does not match what the RN's that I have spoken to have told me. It would be a great help if any of you can supply me with this information. Thank you.

By the way, I also tried calling some of the hospitals, but they couldn't give me that information, they said we can only discuss pay information at the point of employment!

Thank you all!

This should probably be moved to the Oklahoma forum, but I'll answer it here. I'm currently living in Stillwater but just moved from Tulsa where I was a LPN working at St John and then bridged to RN and continued to work at St John. As a LPN I was making around $13.50 and that increased to around $18.50 when I became a RN. In the hospital setting, that's a pretty standard pay rate. Not sure what you're doing that you make $20/hour, except I know that agency, nursing home, and home health pay more than hospitals. You'll probably find that most hospitals don't count your experience as a LPN towards their career ladders either, and if they do they will count as 2 to 1 (2 years LPN = 1 as RN). Sucks, huh? Sorry.

But by the way, if you talk to a nursing recruiter at a hospital, they should be willing to tell you their pay rates. Just tell them you're a new grad and interested in a position - you don't have to follow through.

Are you taking into account shift differentials? I work in the MidSouth so I can't help you on the actual salaries. It also makes a difference if you are working LTC. Around here LPNs make comparable to RNs in LTC because of the workload. However in acute care salary starts at 20-22 an hour plus differential, and that's with benefits. Without benefits you can make more, and different positions (think weekender) make more.

here is good ol Mcalester, I am an LPN and we start out at 12/hr. as an RN I believe it is around $20.50/hr. hope this helps

I am a graduate nurse in Dallas looking for Internship in Texas or Oklahoma. The Baylor here pays only 21.50 compare to the Parkland which can be $ 23.50. So, all hospitals pay close to that range $ 21. The problem for me is how to get into the health care system and get any graduate nurse position in any hospital. We have huge amount of grads hanging around without jobs and State of TX released huge amount of money to expand nursing schools. The condition will be worse in the future. Luba 9722394467 I would like to talk to you.:)

Does anyone know what the nursing salaries are at Montereau?
