RN Salaries, Hospitals in East Coast

Published

Hi,

My girl friend is interested in relocating from the west to the east coast. We are particularly interested in the Philladelphia, Delaware, MD, DC, NY, NJ areas.

What are some of the nice hospitals with good working conditions in any of these areas?

What are the salary scales. She is an B. Sc (RN) with about 10 years of experience.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

(message cross-posted in each of the above geographic forums).

cheers, MN

I live and work in Monmouth County, NJ. This area was rated high on Money Magazine's list of great places to live last year. She can probably expect to make >$25.00 per hour in a hospital before shift diff, cert pay, charge etc...

I have worked in 2 area hospitals in the past 15 years. Salaries are comparable, but I highly recommend working in a unionized facility. I never thought I'd say it, but there is so much less nonsense.

Good luck

The hospitals in northen jersey start with $27.50 plus $2.50 shift differential.

The experience also counts.

Some offer bonus and tution reimbursements too.

I work two long term care facilities. One is a per-diem position in Ocean County for $33.50 per hour, no benefits. I get a few more bucks an hour if I work 3-11 or on Fri-Sat-Sun. Double time on holidays.

My other position is in Mommouth County, $32/hr with health benefits and pro-rated vacation/sick/holiday pay, because I only work 24 hours per week there.

I am an RN, with a non-nursing Bachelor's degree. I have been a nurse 16 years.

I am down the shore near Atlantic City at a small community hospital that I love, I work nights and base salary is about $30-35hr plus $5 shift diff. We are union and it does have it's perks, we got a nice contract with raises other hospitals didn't get
