Not much in hampton roads area. must go to northern virginia to make more, but the cost of living is much higher.

You really have to be more specific. The pay in Northern Virginia (near Washington) is much higher than anywhere else ... but cost of living is also much higher. In most of the more rural areas, the pay is much much lower ... but then, so is the cost of living.
