Hello all, I am a RN in LA. I was licensed several years ago with a criminal history (not bad, all misdemeanors). I was always forthcoming and honest (that has gotten me very far). I was more recently arrested and plead no contest to a felony charge- that was expunged after completing 2 years of probation. I self-reported to the BON and went under investigation. I was compliant and took necessary steps. I finally got my license reinstated but they are now probated and I am on a consent order that looks HORRIBLE on paper. I have been unsuccessful at finding employment-as I can not work HH, NH, float, or agency. I have to be "monitored." All of those positions allow for me to be "independent." I am not sure what to do at this point. My license are not restricted at all just can not work certain places. Has anyone from Louisiana (or any other state) went through the same thing? I just want to know what facility will accept me. Also do you all have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I'm in the same boat, regarding the charge and not being able to work in certain facilities. This is what I am concerned with as well, finding someone to hire me with a conviction that is "assaultive in nature.” I have heard to try psych nursing, rehab/detox centers, etc. I'm afraid I won't be able to find work. If you find something, please post an update. Sorry I can't offer any advice.

go into dialysis nursing. they hire nurses with narcotic restrictions and are used to board sanctions. even if it is not drug related- your best bet is dialysis.
