Hi..I am new grad RN...I am curious about for RNs.

I know in school we were required to have it through "Nurses Service Organization"...as an RN employed at a hospital do I need to have this coverage?

If so...where do I buy it?

ANY insite would be great! THANKS!

all policies have limits of liability. if you are only covered by your employer's insurance, other defendants employed at your entity may and probably do share your liability limits under the same policy. if you, as well as others, are named in a suit, your legal costs, including any settlement, could exceed your employer's shared liability limits. this would mean out-of-pocket expense(s) for you.

i am a strong advocate for it and endorse nso:

There are very few places that I have seen that "require" . BUT... it is very wise to have this safety net.

Many employers policies do not cover nurses named as individuals in suits or have very limited coverage.

Get your own and keep it. It is not a great deal of money for a basic policy. And your can deduct it if you itemize.

Good look!
