RN Jobs, Salary Scales etc in East Coast

Published

Hi,

My girl friend is interested in relocating from the west to the east coast. We are particularly interested in the Philladelphia, Delaware, DC, NY, NJ areas.

What are some of the nice hospitals with good working conditions in any of these areas?

What are the salary scales. She is an B. Sc (RN) with about 10 years of experience.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

(message cross-posted in each of the above geographic forums).

cheers, MN

well I'm in NJ and I'm starting off as a new nurse at $29 an hour. I have no idea what the starting salary would be for a nurse with experience. My best bet would be to visit the websites of various hospitals and see what they offer or email/call them directly.

I'm starting at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. I did clinicals there every single semester, so I'm familiar with nearly every unit and their computerized charting system. I didn't want to have to learn anything else. They're a Magnet hospital and a Malcom Balridge award winner.

Sounds like a good hospital :) especially if its a magnet hospital!!! Oh for the OP, maybe you can look into magnet hospitals in the area. They tend to be the hospitals that can keep their nurses. (I'm from MA so I don't really know about the other places). Good luck.

Currently working in Northern NJ making just under $32/hr going on 3 years exp. Med/surg, vent trained. Any hospitals in Northern DE come close to that salary?

good question,,, hopefully someone will reply!!!!

Stay away from New Jersey, I can't wait to get out, the taxes are too high and it's getting too expensive to live here. Delaware is much cheaper to live and the pay is close to NJ's. Philadelphia pays well but most hospitals want a BSN. DC is hurting for nurses still, I have friends there, not cheap to live but most go across to VA to live and work in DC.
