OKAY, THIS IS CRAZY! I JUST MOVED BACK IN THE COUNTRY,BACK HOME HERE IN NASHVILLE. I CANT BELIEVE I CANNOT FIND A JOB! I HAVE BEEN A RN FOR 8 YEARS, WITH A BSN, AND HAVE WORKED LEVEL 1 TRAUMA AND ER THE MAJORITY OF MY NURSING CAREER. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE TO KNOW SOMEBODY ON THE INSIDE JUST TO GET A JOB! I HAVE APLLIED FOR ER POSITIONS IN MOST THE HOSPITALS IN NASHVILLE AND HAVENT HAD ANY RESPONCES. WHATS UP WITH THAT? AM I CURSED? IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANYTHING, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

I am feeling your pain! My situation is slightly different though...I am an experienced RN. Have 10 years of experience...med-surg, same day surgery, travel nursing, critical care. Have been off with children for 6 years, recently got re-licensed, have applied for about 20 jobs and not even a LOOK from anyone! What a slap in the face for me...when I was even a new grad I got every job I applied for! It has been a real shock that I haven't even got one interview. Where is this so called nursing shortage????

Come to the VA! We have openings. Takes about 3-6 mos to get hired though. Have you tried the temp agencies?

I am also researching RN positions in the Nashville area. If anyone knows of openings, please post the employer so we can go to the site and get the contact info. Thanks, Karen

Just curious if you sent your resume in typed in all caps with mispelled words? That may have something to do with it....
Just to reply, my resume is written in a professional manner, thank you for your concern.

i would think you could find something at vandy...especially if you start applying now to start sometime this summer...if not, then in the fall...there are lots of students at vandy who work at vandy also...maybe nurses getting their masters who will graduate in the fall/end of summer and will quit...
