So I'm starting the final stretch for my associate's RN program, only have clinicals left! Yeah!!
Having spent some time already in our local hospital, I'm not sure that's where I want to be. But I've gotten the impression that a new nurse almost has to punch the hospital RN card before they could get a job elsewhere.
I also don't know what "elsewhere" is...
Can someone tell me about any experiences they have had as an RN other than a hospital or nursing home setting, particularly part time as I may try and pursue my BSN?
I hear about insurance review, flu shots, school nursing, etc., but it seems like NOTHING is going to want to hire you straight out of school with no experience. So what do you do????
Thanks!

This is what I was wondering too!
Where are you getting your ADN? I haven't started yet but am SOO confused about everything. I'm starting late so I want to get my ADN and start working in the field when I graduate then do the RN-BSN or RN-BSN-MSN track. BUT...what happens if the ADN doesn't land me any jobs? Should I just go straight for the BSN??
I just want to get in the field and start working before getting my BSN!! I SERIOUSLY can't bartend for another 4 years. ugh.
I have a friend who's a doctor and he says "there's a huge nursing shortage here(in the philly area) and you wont have a problem getting a job." OK well what about in 2 years??? Will there be a shortage then??? Are they going to prefer a BSN over an ADN?? Will I be totally screwing myself by getting my ADN and assuming I'll get a job right out of school??
I'm all over the place with all of this. I have to apply immediately and I don't even know what to do
