There are other options that don't involve acute care hospitals. Hospices, home health agencies, nursing homes, subacute facilities, doctors' offices, clinics, dialysis centers, freestanding radiology suites, prisons, and other non-hospital settings utilize RNs, although you will still probably encounter fierce competition with getting one of these jobs in your local job market. Good luck to you!
i work in a ltc,its not what i want but what can i do,am even so greatful to God for the job cos it sure pays the rent,d pay is not that great $28/hr nd san diego is so expensive but its better than nothing.i have 6moths experience now and i hope that it counts for something after a year,i have read about folks on here having serious difficulty transitting to acute care.so i have enrolled in a refresher course to start january so hopefully this may market me better

for those new grads out there that didnt get a jon in a hospital, where do you work?i apply everywhere, but i cant find a job that doesnt tell me they want one year acute experience and i cant get that one year acute experience in the hospital because they have over 1000 applicants and only hire 30 of them. why keep putting people thru nursing school? its already backed up, or why dont they open more new grad programs? i see lots of openings on the websites, but they wont hire me because im a new gradso im just curious as to where all the new grads work right now
