Hey Guys... I work for Scripps Enc and I just wanted to say good luck to all of you! I graduated with my RN in 2009 and I remember how stressful it was trying to get into a new grad program with a hospital, and all the disappointment I felt knowing there werer thousands of applicants. I never did get into a new grad program. I eventually went into an outpatient endoscopy center in orange county and worked there for a year and then scripps hired me. Scripps is a fantastic place to work so I wish everybody the best of luck!

only from personal experience, for hemrroids I was given witch hazel pads just in case for tearing down below I used lidocaine spray

for those new grads out there that didnt get a jon in a hospital, where do you work?i apply everywhere, but i cant find a job that doesnt tell me they want one year acute experience and i cant get that one year acute experience in the hospital because they have over 1000 applicants and only hire 30 of them. why keep putting people thru nursing school? its already backed up, or why dont they open more new grad programs? i see lots of openings on the websites, but they wont hire me because im a new gradso im just curious as to where all the new grads work right now

wow...im a little taken aback by all the responses. She just asked a question, if she wasn't a student would you have helped her? I'm sure. I knew when I was a student I didn't always understand the textbook and would seek other places for advice. good luck

You'll probably end up stepping on toes...how long has the med tech worked there? and no, somebody else shouldn't be doing it? you will see that to do it the right way with 3 checks and everything it will take longer than 2 hours for 50 people, regardless of who is doing it... good luck, seems like you are set in your decision and you didn't really want anybody elses feed back

while its not the "right way" there is a time frame within to give the medicine and pouring meds to 50 residents doing it the right way will take longer than 2 hours... most med techs/med aides/nurses know the residents and know what long term meds the residents are on. I say just let them do it the way that works for them, and if state comes in or somebody to audit them, then they will do it the right way

sounds to me like you need to do lots of google research are you taking a trach case?

what about HIV/AIDS, scoliosis, how to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on someone who is choking (for the older kids), cuts, burns, fire safety, poisons, diabetes prevention, how to protect themselves from the sun, cold, rain, etc, nutrition, exercise, there are so many different topics to teach young kids

you need to go in and apply, you will get responses quickly

I'm pretty sure you will be itching for a while since those little buggers got down deep into your skin, you will have to wait until all that skin dies and falls off... that must be awful, I cant imagine they couldn't dx you right away and you had to take that pill!! please get some of that lotion that is for itching, that will help! so sorry you had to go thru that

where do you live? some states don't accept an online program.. i would suggest you go to school for 8 more months to get your RN and then do an online to get your BSN

Houston is a pretty big city - you can work in a ltc facility or home health care. There are plently of oppurtunities to work other than in a hospital
