It a not uncommon that your experience is not considered from another country to be relevant in the US, different standards of care and different training. Is your nursing work experience recent? Plus, it would be costly to verify the experience in addition to the fact that you would likely require the same costly orientation and training as a new nurse. Unemployment is high in the NY/NJ metro area so employers have the luxury of being choosy if they are even filling vacancies.

Are you only applying to hospitals? Have you tried sub acute, long term care, rehab, home health? Did you pass an English proficiency exam? This will increase a potential employer's confidence in your ability to communicate with their patient population. Have you tried any of the open houses/job fairs that are sometimes listed in Sunday newspapers? Perhaps if you dress professionally with resume in hand you can break the anonymous barriers put up by online applications. Two interviews is actually vey good as I know nurses that waited 6 months and 300+ applications for ONE interview.

Were you given the reason for non hire? Did you follow up with the interviewer, if nothing else to thank them for their time and the opportunity to interview? Perhaps if there was a specific reason they went with another potential candidate the interviewer can offer you some insight as to what you need to do.

Also, I'm not sure if you are anxious or typing from a mobile device but your use of English Grammar and syntax used. is not typical for someone who English is their primary language.

How are your written and spoken communication skills in English? In the current healthcare community it is absolutely critical that nurses and other healthcare workers be proficient in reading, writing, listening and spoken English communication. One miscommunication can cause serious harm to a patient, this is one of the reasons for transitioning to electronic medical records to reduce the potential for misinterpretation of messy handwriting.

Good luck. And if you haven't already start applying for non-hospital jobs as this may be your way into working as an RN with the current competitive job market.

Be careful a nurse with overseas experience likely won't qualify as externships are new grads/inexperienced nurses.
