Hi. I'd like to share a short description of my case before I get to my question.
I am currently residing in CA and I took the NCLEX-RN for Hawaii because i know that foreign graduates are required to take additional classes in CA. The waiting lists for the schools offering these remedial classes are long and it usually takes 6 months-2 years depending. So i decided to take the NCLEX-RN asap so all i have to worry about would be looking for a school.
I passed thr NCLEX-RN for the state of Hawaii in December 2016 and filed for reciprocity for RN in February 2017. True enough, CA wanted me to take classes in Obstetric Nursing. Called all schools that was on the board's list and found out that the closest class would be for June 2018.
I would just wait but there has been a lot of demand for LVNs in the area where I work at. My question is, has anyone had a similar situation where you applied as an RN initially and because of the requirements you decided to be an LVN while waiting for the classes, etc? It makes sense if we are just able to at least be allowed to take the NCLEX-PN since we have complied all requirements for the RN except those classes, right? I was initially planning to send the board a letter about my case and see if they could save me from applying from scratch, as in requesting my forms from my college and etc.
Please Let me know if any of you had/know someone who went or is going through the same thing. I tried calling the board but as usual, the call volumes were wild. I would appreciate any comment or suggestion, too. Thank you!
