RN from a foreign country

I am an RN from the Philippines, can u give me some advice on how to start my career. I am looking for opportunities working in the US...

tnx for all the reply and all the advices, at least now I know what i need to do and what to expect. I am now working on my nclex application, my dilemma now is what state is the best state to apply for my nclex exam.

Try New Mexico.

See the thread on New Mexico and search. There is PLENTY of information on it.

It takes about 4-5 months from the date of application to get it processed.

After that you have to register with parson vue and they will give you a date within 90 days.

Go you have the list of the 15 facilities offering H1-C? Can you post it here or email it to me with any more information on the H1C route.

We do not recommend H1C and would strongly recommend you read up about it, many issues with visa and personal safety would be my main one and why can the facility not maintain staff.

Where do you really want to go as I have seen you posting a lot for Australia?

Hello Silverdragon

First I was researching the US - but there are visa issues. Hence am trying to understand Australia.

H1C seems to be a quick route to the US - but the expiry is soon (2009?) and the number is only 500 visas a year.

However - would like a list of the H1C (if available) - am doing a lot of reading!! Will search the site.

Will not post a list of the 15 facilities as I do not like that visa and never recommend that to anyone. And if it is going to expire in just less than two years, there is not one reason to even consider it at this point in time.

There are too many issues with it, and number one is the safety of the nurse because of their locations.

If you are still interested in that route, and with the understanding that you will not be able to remain in the US when it is expired, you can do the research on the computer and find the places and do so at your own risk.

All of us here have advised against it, you are free to do as you wish but I not helping with it at all.

Having a temporary visa for the US also means that it is subject to being cancelled at any time, it is not mandatory that it stay in effect for the length of time that it was issued for in the first place. And with the retrogression in place, there is no way that you will be able to change it over to anything else and remain in the US. Makes no sense to come here and know that you are going to be required to leave.
