RN, EMT-P or EMT-P, RN?

I am a paramedic who just graduated from nursing school and received my RN license yesterday. My question is, how do is sign my name now? Would it be RN, EMT-P or EMT-P, RN. Does it matter which goes first? Do I need to put both credentials down or does it depend on what capacity I am working in at the time?

I always thought you only use the "highest rank" initials after your name, which would be RN. I wouldn't use EMT at all. Kinda like RN's with both BSN and MSN. They don't use the BSN after their initials, only MSN.

Depends on where you are working. If you are working as a nurse, sign RN. If you are working as a paramedic, sign EMT-P. I doubt either workplace would care about the other title.

i think you should use the emt-p if it only applies to the setting you are working in (such as flight nursing). you don't really have to use anything other than the RN really. i have a bsn and i only put RN after my name. the most important thing is that you are officially an RN. congratulations!!!

My huband is a medevac pilot and I usually see the crews' names listed as "John Doe, RN, EMT-P"
