Hello,
I am a new RN from MB, and have recently passed my NCLEX in AB, and have started applying for jobs. I have applied for over 80 positions with AHS and covenant health, and have only received 3 emails back of the positions being filled/cancelled. I was just wondering if this is normal for the late summer market? I am considering now applying to LTC homes, I was wondering if you apply online, or in person them? Any other tips?
Thanks,
Sofia

Its normal. Despite jobs being posted, they are not being filled
My acute care unit is losing two temporary lines that expired.
Long time staff are are having trouble moving within the system. Manitoba might be a better opportunity you
Living in MB isn't an option anymore. I'm starting to see that, but in LTC homes do you apply in person, or is there a website?
Websites. If in Edmonton area look at capital care. Then there are the for profits but they usually hire LPNs or experienced RNs

You will definitely experience challenges applying for jobs in AB. Have you read about the layoffs and high unemployment rate here? Health care is not immune.
Each posting likely receives 50-100 applicants and there is no shortage of local grads. Try clinics and private LTC companies. AHS and Covenant hire internally first.
Thanks for that, i was not aware of the issues. Most of my friends that work here haven't experienced these issues so I had no idea.
