RN with bachelors degree in Business to NP Program

Hello,

I am weighing my options, I have my bachelors degree in Business, and I am working on my pre-reqs for the nursing program. Sciences are all that I have left so I should be finished by the end of 2012 (December). I know for a fact I would like to do the Masters in Nursing Nurse Practioner program (somewhere).

I planning on doing the ADN so I can get into the field quicker and get exp.

But my question is are there any programs that are RN to NP in Maryland? For example I noticed Hopkins NP program stated the requirements are you must have a BSN to apply. Are there any NP programs, that you only need to have an RN and then a bachelors in anything is adaquate enough?

The only program I found so far is Yale. Are there any others?

There are many "direct entry" MSN programs that don't require you to be a nurse at all -- just have a BA/BS in any subject. The basic nursing education is included in the curriculum. If you know that you want to be an NP, have you considered those?

I saw that University of Maryland has a RN-MS program but not for their NP degrees. It is for a healthcare leadership MS. I'd personally contact the schools you are interested and ask about their requirements.

Also, if you look at second degree BSN programs, they are either the same length of the ADN programs or even can get you a BSN sooner. I'm applying to Johns Hopkins BSN-MSN program. 13 or 17 months for the BSN then you can start the NP program whenever you want.

The Univesity of South Alabama in Mobile has a program for that specifically. I believe you have to visit the campus for an orientation, but all the didactic work is online. After that, clinicals are done with local preceptor in you community that's approved by the college. Here's the application page http://www.southalabama.edu/nursing/familynp.html.
