RN assessments

Our nursing home completes an RN assessment monthly in addition to the quarterly MDS assessment. Do any of you also comple monthly assessments in addition to MDS?

Any reply would be helpful!

The nursing home that I went to during school required that all residents on the skilled floor have a complete assessment every 24 hours. Those in even numbered rooms were done on day shift, odd numbers on nights. (approx 15 pts. per nurse per 12 hr shift) Any resident newly discharged from the hospital was assessed per shift for the first 48h. If the residents were in the assisted living complex, they were visited 2x/week by the nurse and prn.

I'm not familiar with which floor you are working on that only requires monthly assessments. The doctor did only visit 1x a month though and he was a jerk! He acted like he was in a hurry and spent about 2 seconds in the residents rooms. Calling him was always difficult too.

With our ICF residents we do a monthly summary in the chart. Room 1 is done on the first of the month, room 10 is on the 10th etc. Skilled residents get daily kinda the same way you do it Gator. I'm not even going to talk about the MDs here!
