Moved to the International forum and title changed as you are not applying for NCLEX but registration. NCLEX is just a part of that process

CA will not accept application without a SSN and you can not get that until in the US with valid work/immigrant visa

Would also suggest you research retrogression as you will be affected meaning long wait for visa but also a hard job finding employer

a friend of mine suggested me to take a exam for california because the license from this state could be use in any state.

I don't know who told you this, but it's not true. A California license is only good in California. Each US state controls and regulates the practice of nursing (and every other licensed occupation/profession) within its own borders. You will have to be licensed in whatever state you physically live and work in. Once you are licensed in one US state, you can apply for licensure in any other state based on the fact that you met the requirements for licensure in the first state (and you don't have to write the NCLEX again, any state will accept the results you got the first time you passed it) -- but that is true of any US state. There's nothing special about California licensure in that regard.

There is a group a states that has gotten together and worked out an agreement to recognize each other's licenses for working purposes (the Nurse Licensure Compact), but that only applies if you are actually a physical resident of one of those states -- and CA is not a member of the Compact, anyway.

You should apply for licensure in whatever state you plan on living and working in.

(On the other hand, if this rumor is being passed around the PI, that might explain why so many of the Filipino nurses who post here are applying for licensure in CA; I've always wondered about that ...)

Social Security numbers are issued by the US federal government (the Social Security Administration). The only way to get one is to be in the US and legally authorized to work here (through citizenship, green card, or a visa that allows you to work).

Unemployment in the US is bad these days (worse than I ever imagined I would see in my lifetime ...) There are lots of unemployed US nurses and not many openings. Hospitals and other healthcare employers are cutting back and trimming expenses, and that means (among other things) employing fewer nurses. RNs are even getting laid off in some places.

Look around this site -- nursing schools here turn out huge waves of new grad nurses every year, and many of them are not able to find jobs, any job, in nursing. Even experienced RNs are having a lot of trouble finding jobs in some areas.

The prospects for employment as a new RN in US are quite poor at this time. And with retrogression, many immigrants are waiting 5 or more years before being considered by immigration.

In the US - ALL nursing licenses are only state by state. While people may work in some other states as part of the Nursing Compact, they must maintain legal residence in the state that qualifies. Thus you really need to get your license where you will be living/working.

Right now local RNs are having issues with finding employment, especially new grads. Keep continuing with your MSN and specialize in something. That would increase your chances for a work visa, but it's not a permanent visa and it can be canceled at anytime. With your MSN that will open up so many opportunities for you. Good Luck
