Just wondering if there are any other Riv students in here?? I'm actually taking my pre-reqs right now and start the nursing program in Fall of 09. I'm in the evening program.
:)
hi there! i will be taking the nln in february and i'll have just finished up both chemistry and algebra by then so hopefully those will be a big help to me on the exam. i will be taking 2 classes at nashua tech for the spring - a&pi and english comp because i don't believe rivier offers those classes in the spring? now i'm slightly disappointed though hearing how much you all are liking the a&p teacher you have!!
how has it been for you so far juggling school with the little one?
jw1724~ i didn't know they offered the clinicals on weekends? i think they had told me 3pm-11pm on tuesdays and thursday nights? funny i am thinking the the maternity/labor and delivery may be where i want to be! is there anything in particular that you are seeing that makes you not care for it as much?

so far it's not so bad since it's only 2x a week. i work sun-wed and have class tues 6:30-7:45 and thurs 6:30-7:45 lab 8:00-10:00...it's nice that my late night is before a day off and that i have the day to spend with my little guy. my husband picks him up at daycare on tues.

i'm in the day program, the options are different for evening students. day program does clinicals 7am-3pm two days a week or 12 hour shifts one day a week. it all depends on the rotation. fundamentals are one day a week, then in 102 you go to 2 days a week, i think it was tues/thurs for us. 202 (maternity) is wed/fri or fri 12 hour or sat 12 hour.
many hospitals are flooded with nursing students which is why we now have to do 12 hours too so the group is only there 1 day a week to accomodate as many schools as possible.
there's nothing wrong with maternity, i don't hate it... but it's not my thing. i love med/surg and i have a feeling i'll belong more in er or icu type situations.
I have her and I think she's awesome! I'll have her next semester too! Thanks for the info on the maternity. I can't wait to get to that. Do you have a choice as to where you do your clinicals? My SIL graduated 4 years ago and did some in MA, some in Nashua, and some in Exeter.
You can make requests usually on where you'd RATHER be but it's never guaranteed. In fact this past semester we were told NO requests and NO changes to assignments because of the tight squeeze into hospitals. I've done Lowell General, CMC, NH Hospital, Southern NH Med. Center. Next I go to North Billerica for pedi, and then back to CMC for my final "rotation." Next year is the preceptorship.
