Riverside Community College Fall 2015 RN

Anyone applying for RCC's Fall 2015 Nursing program?

Thought I'd start a thread to communicate about applying, TEAS, etc.

I don't think so?? Because if you don't take it with them you have to submit it to RCC? Did you call and ask??

If you've taken your TEAS at a different location then you need to have your results sent by purchasing a transcript at the ati website. I took mine at CSULA so i had to purchase one

I have a question for those of you that are applying to RCC for the second time around this fall. How many application points did you have for the prior application period? Thanks in advance :)

Does anybody know if RCC automatically received our TEAS transcripts of we've taken it at another location? -sitting here stressing over it

I hope all is well

Thank you, What days/hours are the classes? I am the single support of two kids, one with special needs, so not working is not an option. I'm 45 and I've pretty much used up my lifetime limit for pell grants on lvn school and prerequisites. I need to start planning now for the days and hours I'll have for work.

Sorry it took me so long to reply but I have been very busy. We have two cohorts in nursing 11. Cohort A is my cohort, The first few weeks I believe was Mon- fri 8 to 430. Once we are in clinical our schedule changes I am at school mon- Friday.. Cohort B has Mon off. You have a lot on your plate. I have not met anyone in our program that works FT. PT is doable. If you have children and no support it will be difficult for you. I would look into scholarships. If you have family support you can do it. It is a lot of reading, projects, study, clinical, and lab hours. If you have you LVN that will help you with the first semester. Remember being a nursing student is a lot different than being a nurse. Btw I will be 45 in August :)

Remember for those of you who have 70- 75 points you still can get in, so don't get discouraged if you are in that point range. As long as they don't give you a denial letter. I got in a week before school started with 75 points. You still could get in by lottery also. Go back and read what I went through for fall 2015. It was very stressful. 80 points and above should get you in for sure unless your applicant cutoff is higher which I doubt. We had two more that got in after school started. Good Luck to you all. :)

I love reading your posts! Thank you so much for all you help! All the information is great! :)

Thank you, another question if I could. I found the fall 2014 pdf schedule of classed online and it looks like cohort a gets out of class Thursday and Friday around 11am. That would let me work 2-10 th, fr, sat, and sun. I already work those days and hours at a home health job that gives me about 4 hours down-time during my shift for homework. I'd have to give up my tuesday but I could make it work. Am I reading the schedule correct?

your right Cohort A a couple of months in after we do skills and community rotation. You will get your schedule during intake.

Nevermind , after looking harder at the schedule I'm doubting my ability to get through this program. I cant make heads or tails out of this. I'm going back to my original plan to work two agencies and double shifts Sat and Sun. .

Saw you post after I posted. So your saying the first couple of months are mon-fri then I'd have thurs and fri off by noon? My head hurts, I hope the lectures are less confusing than this pdf.

What is community rotation? Thank you

For right now Just relax. I don't want to confuse you and who knows they could change things for you all in the Fall. Your intake is in July right? If so you have a couple of months to decide once you get accepted and get your schedule. I think I read you have more than 90 points? If so you have nothing to worry about. Your an LVN so you should be able to pass the background, and the medical. Your gonna need about 4 grand to start. You should still fill out a Fasfa to get your tuition waved. I am gonna sign off because I have some reading to do. Just enjoy the process. :)
