Hi, I applied to the LVN at Rcc and was not accepted. I will reapply in the fall for spring 2020 entrance. This is extremely frustrating as I again wasn’t accepted to the RN program at Rcc. I guess my only option is private if I want to take my RN or apply again to RCC for LVN n then bridge into RN. Unless a new teas version comes along then my option to take a new version of teas n get a better score can really help me!

It took me 3 tries to get accepted into their program. I did everything in my power to get extra points. I took the extra classes they offer for extra points. I quit my job and became a CNA for extra points. I re-took my English 1A class and got an A (had a C before). Do everything you can for some extra points. If you can, try working in one of their partner facilities. They give priority to the ones who’s work there. There is a list of their partner facilities in the School of nursing website. Hope this helps.

Hi,

thank you for the feedback ? it’s my third time applying as well (ADN program) 1st time applying to LVN program. I will definitely look into their partner programs, I didn’t even know that existed hmmm. I am applying their CEP in the fall I hear the point system is a bit lower from ppl who got in. I have my CNA but I don’t have the 1000 hours. Did you get into there RN program?

Yes I got into their RN program. I graduate this december ??. I wouldn’t recommend going to a private institution though, you don’t want all that debt once you are finished. Tough it out, you won’t regret it! Good luck to you!

@EricaK71413 have you tried applying to multiple schools? They have just about the same requirements for prerequisites; even their point systems are similar. Their differences may be in which exam to take: TEAS or HESI. Some may require a transcript evaluation (Mt San Jacinto, Chaffey, SBVC).

I agree with @Murse_to_be. Don’t go private. Some cost as much as 120k before interest. You will be working to pay off your debt which is not a good investment.

Hi,

yes i have, to be exact 4 schools I applied to. I currently live in Temecula and there is some I was not allowed to apply to because I took the teas more than twice. Msjc is my home school where I took a majority of my prerequisites including my Cna. Private is my last resort but it’s not off the table. Unfortunately I’m not young and have children so time is limited. I have had some friends graduate through private (as there last resort) and are working as nurses now with high pay and they have said paying a loan is well worth it because they are RNs now vs still waiting to get in. It’s extremely competitive and unless you have high teas score or a high gpa or both your chances are really low:(

I can see where you’re coming from. Just be careful when it comes to private schools. When I started out in nursing as a new grad, I made $27.97 as a full time staff. I don’t have any children so making that much wasn’t too much of a burden, and I didn’t have a huge student loan to worry about.

I really wish you success with your application and I’m hoping you get in.

Thank you, unfortunately I am familiar with private. I did my MA and surgical tech through private. I have been working as a surgical tech for 8 years. Unfortunately I don’t get any points for that?lol. You would think they would give you some but doesn’t fall under their point system. Once your established as an RN and get experience as an Rn you can request more. My friends who graduated as an RN are starting off at 33 an hour. They are working in Orange County so that can be why too.
