Hi! Thanks for starting this forum. I'm also taking my last prerequisite and will be applying this fall. What are your points before taking the TEAS? My points before the TEAS are 53.

I'm also planning to apply in the fall & as of right now (before TEAS) I have 48 points.

I will be applying in the Spring of 2018 and hopefully start the program in Fall of 2018. I am so excited. It seems so close yet so far away. All I need is A&P2A2B and Micro. Who did you guys take the science classes with and would you recommend them? I am registered to take Cryder in the Summer, but not sure if I am setting myself up for failure. I just want to get these prerequisites over with.

Congrats on almost being done! I took Cryder last summer and did well. Just be prepared to study every day for those 6 weeks because you have a lot of material to cover in a short period of time. If you work more than 20 hours per week, I would advise against taking the class since you want at least a B in your sciences.

For Micro I had Dr. Lisa (Thompson-Eagle) and Professor Loomis for 2B. I think that all 3 are incredible professors and you would learn a lot from them. Good luck!

I think I'm going to pass on taking it during the summer. I do work full- time at home, but I would rather be safe than sorry, so I think I'll wait until the fall to take 2A. I was trying to be quick about taking all of the classes, but I have to be realistic. I just want to finish all my prerequisites and apply to the program already.

That's smart to wait until the fall if you work full-time. I know some people that rushed because they also wanted to just get their courses done, but did not get the grades they needed in order to have the best chance of getting in. In the meantime, you can take the nurse prep class (NXN-84) with Dr. Vanthul- it is an incredible class and she gives you great information. Plus, you will get two points towards the RN program (if the scale doesn't change by the time you apply). Good luck!

Hello everyone! I want to wish you all good luck on applying/prepping for the TEAS. I'll be applying in the spring for Fall 2018 (I am taking my last prerequisite, Anatomy 2B, in the Fall), but I wanted to familiarize myself more with the process, this website, and just pick up any pointers that I can when the time comes around. Once again, best of wishes!

I just wanted to echo what FutureRN951 said. With the competitiveness of this program, I would not recommend taking any chances with your GPA. I applaud you for evaluating your circumstances and being realistic with yourself. I took 2A during the winter and got an A while working over 40 hours a week. Many people who were working more than 20+ hours usually took a lower grade or dropped the class entirely. The professor made the class manageable though.

As far as recommended professors go, I echo FutureRN951 again. I'll be tutoring for Micro with the above mentioned professor. She is amazing! I took the same professor as she did for 2A. He is tough, but he will get you into and through nursing school. I'll be taking (hopefully) her professor for 2B in the Fall. I have had several people recommend taking that professor as my 2A professor won't be teaching 2B when I am taking it. I thoroughly vet my potential professors before taking them because I do not want an easy A if it will not successfully get me through nursing school.

If you need anything else please let me know! Continue to ask around and get advice! Best of luck with classes!

Hey everybody I am applying for fall of this year for spring 2018 and I already have 62 points with the teas and I plan on taking statistics this year to get an extra 4. This point system is crappy I have awesome grades but the teas kill it for me so I might go do my CNA in the meanwhile. That's with an EMT and the extra prep classes too

The new point system is definitely different. I like that it allows more people who work in various parts of the medical field to get points whereas previous versions limited who could get points. My friends who applied in the couple past semesters really loved being able to get so many extra points from taking a couple of classes. I have yet to actually take my TEAS, but I feel somewhat pressured to score in the 90s. Even though, I would not feel entirely safe!

If you get your CNA, would you plan on applying for the LVN program in addition to the RN program? That way you have the option of going the LVN route into the program. I have been trying to explore different options and schools myself.

Hi everyone! I will also be applying in the Fall for Spring 2018. If I did the calculation correctly for the remainder graduation prereqs, then I am coming in at 43 points (before TEAS). This new grading scale brought my points down by a lot :/
