Has anyone else noticed that Kaplan stated the Risk for injury is priority over Pain and Saunders stated Pain is priority over Risk for injury? I am going to go with Kaplan when it is time to take my nclex (Risk for Injury over Pain). Just wanted to know did anyone else notice. Thanks.

Per Kaplan...you always want to keep your patient SAFE! So based on Maslow...
Safety = physical and your #1 priority
Pain = psychosocial (unless MI, Kidney Stones, or Burn victims)
I totally agree with different resources contradicting one another. This is why I think it's important to try to stick to one source if you can. Good luck!
Thank you so much!!

YDRussel is correct. Risk for injury always comes before risk for pain. But when your patient is in sickle cell crisis, appendicitis, or pancreatitis, the risk for pain is the main priority. This is what we have been taught.
Hope that helps!
Thank you!

Depends on how they construct and what the question is ..it can go either way.i won't disagree to both. I will always go for the answer that saves my patient.

Just noticed it and yes I must agree with Joe. It all depends on the situation presented and what the question is really asking. More of critical thinking. Let's just go for whichever will save your patient more. :) Good luck to us!
