Just curious...do any of you do "risk assessments" for suicidal ideation/threats?

Not answering your question, but just saying I have a bitmoji on my phone in a little nurse cap as well.
As for your question, no, I don't do as formal risk assessment. I do ask if they are going to harm themselves or someone else or if they are being hurt, look for marks on arms and assess for s/s of drug use, but I usually refer to SW, who shares an office with me, if I think a kid is in crisis,
I love them!
We don't have SWs or counselors, so I am asked to do it. There was no training involved, so I'm hoping to get some advice!
Do you have a possible suicidal kid now?
No, but I work at a school for kids who have emotional-behavior disorders, so it's not uncommon.

Get in touch with your local NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) organization. They offer trainings all the time. Work with your guidance department, they will be a huge help!
We don't have a guidance department here...no counselors, no social workers...just teachers, intensive interventionists, parapros...and me. I've tried to reach out to nurses working in e-bd schools, but apparently I'm the only one in the state! I will google NAMI and see what I can come up with, thanks so much!
