Suspected drug use in home
Smoking marijuana. Sometimes I think I can smell it, but my nose does not work that well :/

Suspected drug use in home
Thank you. That makes me feel better about how I've been handling this!

Suspected drug use in home
Have any of you had an experience with suspected drug use in a patient's home? I'm not sure, and I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but I also don't want to get myself in trouble for NOT reporting my suspicions. I do not feel the patient is in any danger. I'm afraid my supervisor may approach the parent and I might be transferred and the family retaliate against me (I'm in a very small town).

Hello! I've been a school nurse for my entire nursing career and now I'm moving into the hospital. I'll be working on a renal unit....does any one have any pointers for me? Very excited & very nervous!

keeping records on staff members
No, I've worked for three different districts in the past 15 years, I've never had to do that!

keeping records on staff members
This is what I did at my previous location, and got in trouble for! I think this is a GOOD thing.

keeping records on staff members
I am not given ANY information unless a staff member chooses to share that with me, usually when they are having an issue. I'd like to have a form on the staff members just like the kiddos :)

keeping records on staff members
Nothing gets reported to me, I usually find out when someone comes to me for an issue. I wish I could get information from teachers, have teacher forms, like I do the student forms!

keeping records on staff members
Hi! I have been told in the past it's not a good idea to keep records on staff members who see me. Now, at another facility I am in trouble for NOT keeping records on staff members! Has anyone had this issue? Thoughts?

How do your students address you?
I'm a bit old fashioned, so I use my last name...but mine it not a hard one! I also go by Nurse "last name" instead of Mrs. "last name" to separate myself from the teachers and administration (the scrubs help too!). You may want to consider using your first name, using only one of your hyphenated names, or even use the initials of your hyphenated name, like Mrs. "MJ" (or whatever your initials are), or first name initial and one of your last name initials....whatever rolls off the tongue the easiest :) Oh...and although I will also respond to "Nurse," like so many of you, I also start calling the person addressing me by their occupation
