Rio Hondo Fall 2017

Published

Hello everyone,

I just handed in my application for Fall 2017 and am wondering how many of you are out there. The person at the front desk told me that they will be picking candidates on April 10th and there will be a mandatory meeting on April 14th for those who were accepted. Good luck!

This topic got real quiet once the emails were sent...

If this helps my stats are:

-Bachelor's of Science in Healthcare Administration with overall 3.33 undergrad GPA.

-4.0 science prereqs GPA (A&P, Micro, Chem)

-94.7% TEAS Score (first attempt)

That's all I turned in with my application. I also volunteer at a hospital with over 400 hours, but I couldn't get the verification in time so I just turned in my app without it.

imtoonice, are you going to go early to the meeting for the fire card?

Yes! I'll be there early for the fire training. What about you? Are you attending the fire training too?

Hello everyone, I am lucky to be one of forty to be accepted I just wanted to post what I submitted in my application to see if this could help anyone that was planning on applying or reapplying

-Overall GPA of 3.73

-Science GPA of 4.0

-Associate in general studies

-Phlebotomy license

-200 volunteer hours

-83.3% on first attempt for the TEAS

-I had 3 out of 5 possible choice for the life experiences

-Bilingual

Congrats to all of us that made it and good luck in the future to everyone who didn't.

I attended the nursing information session and was told no points were going to be given for Cumulative GPA. By the looks of it so far it seems to be that they are really looking at overall science GPA.

Wow I really got lucky then. I didn't know that. Anyone get in without having a 4.0 science GPA?

Is Rio Hondo your first choice? If not, where else did you apply?

I applied to LBCC and CSU San Marcos and expecting their letters late April or May. I'd rather go to lbcc since I live closer to there. CSU San Marcos is an ABSN program but it is really expensive, so I don't know if I am willing to move out there and take out a hefty loan for it.

Congrats to all that got accepted!!

Seems like they are definitely looking into overall science and other degrees earned!

I had everything else - bilingual, ma license, 2 yrs work experience, life experiences, 81% teas, science gpa of 3.3 (A in anatomy B's in micro and phys) and no aa or bs degree! Looks like i am going to wait until i get my degree to re apply into a program.

Special shout out to roasted.peanuts for this thread!! Lol goodluck guys!!

I was accepted!

4.0 Science prereq GPA

200 volunteer hours

3 life experiences- low income, need to work, first gen college student

85% on TEAS (1st attempt)

No bachelor or associates degree.

Congratulations to everyone who got in! And best of luck to those who didn't. Keep your head up and keep moving forward. ***That science GPA is suuuuper important according to the nursing counselors.

It seems the trend is a 4.0 science gpa and a good TEAS score. Hope this helps future students. I'll be going to the fire training so can't wait to meet you all!

Would it be weird if I brought my SO to the advisement meeting? I remember reading that people brought their parents ...

I'm not entirely sure, haha. They didn't specifically say it was for students only, so I think it is fine.
