Rio Hondo College Spring 2023 ADN Program

Updated:   Published

Hi, I haven't seen a post about this application round yet. I thought I would make one so we can share our stats and share any updates from Rio Hondo.

I applied to both the regular ADN program and LVN-RN program. I really hope this is my last time applying.

My stats:

4.0 science GPA

3.3-ish general GPA

84.7% TEAS

Experience: 50hrs volunteering, 500hrs work experience as a CNA, work experience 150+hrs as an LVN

2 life experiences

Bachelors degree

Not to sure if this helps. But I was an alternate at Rio's LVN Program. And now accepted to their Bridge Program. But as an alternate I went through the entire 1st semester and 3 people didn't pass so those were the open spots for us. There was 5 alternates so we literally pulled cards for our spots. But hold on because there are students that are accepted and don't follow through in the program so spots will open up when it's closer to the date we need to turn in all our stuff. Good luck!

As an alternate you still go through the classes like a regular student? I am confused about the process ?

Which program did you apply for ? If its the generic ADN, then yes if you get a seat, you will start the program with everybody else who was accepted initially. If you applied for the bridge, then if you get a seat, you will start in the 3rd semester of the ADN program

I applied for the generic ADN. So I only start if I'm officially accepted? Or I start as an alternate as well? I've heard so many different things.

You will only start with the cohort if you are "moved up and offered a seat" putting you in the cohort and no longer an alternate.
