Rio Hondo College Spring 2023 ADN Program

Updated:   Published

Hi, I haven't seen a post about this application round yet. I thought I would make one so we can share our stats and share any updates from Rio Hondo.

I applied to both the regular ADN program and LVN-RN program. I really hope this is my last time applying.

My stats:

4.0 science GPA

84.7% TEAS

Experience: 50hrs volunteering, 500hrs work experience as a CNA, work experience 150+hrs as an LVN

2 life experiences

Bachelors degree

I was accepted as an alternative

Did they tell you that you were accepted during the mandatory zoom meeting? I am in the same boat as you and I am hoping I have a good shot.  I got my email as an alternate the very first day Rio started notifying accepted students and I heard that other alternates just got their email a week later so I am hoping that means I might be towards the top of the list.

People who didn't get an alternate position or if you are an alternate that didn't get a spot into the program  will have to reapply for the program again once the application opens up

Did you ever get accepted?

Would you say if I received an alternate acceptance email the day Rio sent out emails to the accepted students that I should be higher on the list? I know of some students who received an alternate status email a week after. I am just trying to gauge what my odds are of actually getting a spot but I am not feeling hopeful.

@nick007

what program did you apply to? The generic or bridge?

I applied to the generic for Summer 23 since that was the only one available to apply for.

OK I was confused because this thread was for the students who already started the program in January. But I'm assuming you applied in January of this year so if you got an alternate position I would do all the requirements needed   .If you got a letter before other students then you are at a higher position than them but it's not a guarantee in the program unless someone's drops. I would get all my stuff done that needs to be done "just in case" someone in the program does decide to drop. But you never know someone may drop or no one may drop.

Hi, as an alternative your odds of getting accepted is high. A lot of alternatives get accepted .
