Hi I decided to start this thread for the future rio hondo lvn nursing applications 2024

Just got a seat as an alternate today!

I also was offered a seat as an alternate, did you do the background check and everything they are asking for?

Congrats!! 🎉 I just ordered the stuff due on Friday and will get the other stuff done when I can cause some stuff isn't due till 12/6

Thank you! Yes I just did that as well. 
Did you get an official acceptance letter already? Or how does this work if you dnt mind me asking?

No official acceptance yet. I am not 100% sure, but I am assuming they gave everyone who was accepted a deadline to accept/to get the to-do list stuff done, and if they do not get it done in time, or some people decline their acceptance then those spots open up to alternates. We attend the orientation still, and we just wait to see if we get in. It's like being waitlisted for a class, you just wait for an open seat.

I was wondering how do they know how many alternates to get, how do they calculate that. I did read we do attend everything and do all as if we were accepted. I do not mind paying the background check along with the other requirements but for some it is hard financially. This is an exhausting emotional roller coaster for the "waitlisted students" .  I was hoping you had received your acceptance letter already.

?? Maybe you can call the department and try to get some answers that you are looking for. I'm in the same boat as you and everyone else on the alternate list.

I did call and ask but to be honest they seem to get bothered when questions are asked. 
today I called and they told me if alternates want a chance into the program we have to do what they ask although we do not get a refund from castle. She said it's a 50/50 to get in the program which I understand. I just was hoping for a bit more transparency. However let's hope and pray we make it in.. I have high hopes we will get a seat.

Based on the research I did, I BELIEVE it's 5 alternates. Don't quote me on that. Good luck guys! 😊😊
