So she admitted to not knowing how to use the equipment and essentially admitted to making up the BP? I would recommend education, however how are you to trust this individual in the future? Anytime you delegate something to them there is always going to be some sort of doubt over if it was actually done and done properly.
Spooky.I am guessing she uses ESP to get the vitals.
How did you handle the situation? Write her up? Educate?
I am curious.
Educated. Had her come with me and watch and demonstrate how to take a manual B/P. It still makes me furious to know that not only would someone not know, but have no desire to know. Is taking a manual B/P obsolete now? I have overheard someone say they didn't know how to get a pulse without the machine. And I am pretty sure some of them use ESP because I have recieved a full set of vitals on a pt. out of the unit to dialysis. Amazing!

I won't. I will do my own. Makes me wonder how many sets I have received that were inaccurate, incorrect, or just plain BS.

I had a CNA hand me the vitals and tell me a BP was low. She had 60/70 written down. She also admitted she does not know how to or want to use a manual cuff.
