Revising Resume or CV, need suggestions please

Published

Hello Nurses,

Happy nurses week and mother's day to the mothers and nurses out here reading this. I just wanted to ask how to edit my CV. I'm currently in a non-BSN MSN bridge program. I received a BA in human development and MPH. I am thinking about revising my CV since I have a week off before Summer semester starts. I was wondering if I should continue to add my previous experience or cut them out? I don't have a traditional BSN background. I have some experience in community health, global health, policy/ program experience, working in non-profit, etc.  If you have any suggestions or tips for me, I would appreciate it.

Thank you!

FWIW - when you've got that different type experience background, I wonder if it might behoove you to consider a professional resume/ CV writing company.

The trick is to accentuate your professional experience that reflects your best attributes and how you will be an asset going forward.

And welcome to AN.

I wouldn’t leave that education or experience out. It will set you apart from the traditional new grad. Be sure to have a solid answer to the inevitable interview question “why did you switch to nursing?”

Please check out askamanager.org for tips on resumes and CVs! Absolute wealth of information. I would include a brief synopsis of why you switched to nursing in your CV and remember that resumes should always highlight accomplishments (you'd be surprised how many people don't understand that) instead of  only listing jobs.

Thank you for your responses. I will take your suggestions into considerations!
