I have 1yr PD exp working on a locked psych unit, and have been working in community or case management roles for the past 4yrs. I also don't feel like I got a great orientation at the time and mostly ended up passing meds.
I may be accepting a direct care RN position in the next few months, an am looking for a review-- not dx and psych assessment, but for common med combos, reactions to watch for, responding to acute psych emergencies when there is need for restraints/IM meds.
Does anyone have a suggestion? I am looking for a resource that is easy to read, has only the basics of what I need for the jobs (not "FYI" stuff like the year haldol came out, or the type of DA receptors affected by 1 neuroleptic vs another), but without the theory piece/therapeutic communication, info on s/s of diff disorders (I am very familiar w this stuff).
Does a book like this exist?
Thx in advance
