You'll never know if you don't try. Why don't you start at your community college by taking a prerequisite or 2 and see how it goes, how you absorb the material, and if returning to school feels like a good fit for you?
I would also suggest looking into LVN/LPN programs in your area. LPN programs generally take less time, are less competitive and therefore result in becoming licensed within a couple years without massive debt.
I'm 55 now. Had my liscence 3 years now. Depends on what shape you're in and what you want to do. I don't want to discourage you but I'd say no. This is the advice I'd give myself now thinking about doing it before I did. That being said we don't all have the same experiences motivations etc. Just giving you my best advice.

Hello
I would like to.rerurn to school for practical nursing. The question is an I too old,I'm 55. But,I have extensive experience in the medical field,I am a certified phlebotomist of 15 years, and worked for the blood center for 10of.thise 15 years, I worked as a apheresis technician for 10,and 5 as a mobile blood phlebotomist. I.also worked on a nursing home assisting in handing out medications 25 years ago ,amd as a personal care aide.I have also taken courses in human anatomy, and I am a certified personal care aide. I have been told by so many friends and family, why don't you just go back to school and get your license, but I was hesitant, and fearful, that it would be too much for me now at 55.
And even before then I was a bit afraid.
I.have a very big advantage of most academically and have a lot of knowledge of the medical profession.
Should I go for it?.what are the disadvantages? And what job can I obtain?and what are my chances of getting hired?
Thank you anxiously awaiting your reply
