Returning to nursing after 3 years

Published

Hi all! I graduated from lpn school in 2013, and haven't worked as a nurse since 2013. Has anyone returned to nursing after years off? How did you get back into it? I applied to get my license reinstated, figured that would be my first step. And started reading to refresh myself. Thank you.

been graduate almost 5 yrs and TX WANTS me to do refresher course

Did you take the refresher course? is it the FENS or just the regular refresher course? Where and how did you take it? Was it online? How was your experience?

Austin Community College offers a TX Board of Nursing approved nurse re-entry (refresher) course. I took the course in 2011. I lived in the DFW area. The theory portion was done online and via conference calls. The lab portion consisted of skills (hand washing to IV insertion) and was done at a community college close by that sponsored nurses who weren't able to go to the Austin site. After the theory and skills portion, clinicals are done at a sponsoring facility. I had to recertify health care provider BLS before I could go to clinicals. My overall experience was good... the instructor was very thorough and would quickly respond with assistance if needed. You can take a look at the course at Nurse Re-Entry. :)
