would a returning nurse have better chances at a small hospital

As a returning nurse, having taken a refresher course but with limited experience before my license lapsed ten years ago, would I have a better chance at getting into the specialty I prefer (or a job at all) by trying for a small community hospital?

You probably would be treated as a new nurse, as you only had a limited time and your license expired. You probably would be on a med surg floor. Thats a great place to get back into the swing of things.

With the economy the way it is, you want to apply everywhere and hope to get something. It really depends on your area though. Who knows, you may be fortunate enough to have a few offers to choose from. Good luck! :)
