:idea:there wer rumors that there is regression in the hiring of nurses in US..i dont beliv its true..wat u think?
There are many other countries that are available to you, but they require the local license as well as two year of experience for most.
Expect to see more states in the US require the local license once again, and the US government to require experience as they did not too long ago; more as a weeding item than anything else and that the nurse can function in that role before coming to the US.
When the CGFNS exam was required by all, it required that you have a local license; since this requirement was lifted, skills are not where they should be when the new grad comes to the US and they are trying to correct that.
For sometime, I have recommended getting experience in another country before coming to here; especially since the retrogression has been for more than a year with no relief in the horizon for many.
Nobody is listening. The PI nursing students just keep piling up, most of them pushed by their parents and peers. The oversupply is already here, luckily, the call center industry can absorb most if not all of the new jobless nurses.
You really can't force people to do or believe anything and go on and on about it. You will only succeed in getting their ire.
One can only make suggestions and friendly advices. That is all. And majority do know what the situation is.
There are also those that has "given up" and would rather go to another country and so be it. No one is stopping them and no one is criticizing them if they do so and America will not stop them either
but it should also be the other way around. Those who are now determined to go to another country should not criticize other people as well that "hopes" or "wishes" to stick it out, no matter what. They may have very good reasons why they are willing to wait.
Only thing that is being noticed by a lot of people is that those that has "given up" on USA ended up severely criticizing their immigration system and the nation as a whole and "threatening" to go to another country instead, and also ends up criticizing the other people that are still hoping or wishing to go to USA but these very same people that keeps criticizing and blaming others are still regularly keeping themselves updated on what's happening in the USA immigration system. My suggestion to these people is to stop preaching about it and stop updating themselves on what's going on and start applying for other countries as soon as possible instead, if that's what they really believe and if that's what they really think of USA.

I am new here and am so thankful to have found this post. I am also one of the many nurses in the Phils waiting for the retrogression to ease as my PD is July 2006. I have considered 2 options for me to work asap in the US. FIRST: to wait for my immigrant visa to be approved since I am now in packet 3B or SECOND: to sign up with an employer in texas who is recruiting several Rns in the Phils now for an H1-C visa. Hope you can give give valuable and honest opinions on my predicament.

Welcome to allnurses.com :balloons:
There are disadvantages for the H1C visa. We do not recommend it for safety reasons.
You can read more about it in our discussions in this sticky thread located above:

I also recommend reading some more of the stickies above as those contains answers to most FAQs.

Anna is correct on this. You have to take into account that visas are allocated every October based on the fiscal year for immigration. But there have many more petitions submitted than the number of visas available, and that is what caused the retrogression and that is what will cause it to go on.
Add into it, the increase that still continues to come in as far as I-140 petitions and it will get worse before it gets better, especially for those from the countries were there is a much larger number of applicants.
That is one reason that you are going to see a shift coming up in the requirements for licensure in the US once again, such as needing a local license is going to become more prevalent again, and you may see the requirement of work experience as well. Same as what many other foreign countries are now requiring.
