Retrogression!!!

World Immigration

Any news about retrogression?

Let us hope that this 'bill' will be approved by the Lower House in the soonest possible time.

The "Lower House" will not even have elections until next month and will not be sworn in to office until mid-January. The bill for immigration and the visas is tied in with illegal immigration and those issues will need to be addressed as well.

Do not exepct anything concrete with dates until sometime next summer at the earliest. It is usually about four months or so, at least, even after the bill is approved, before visas will be even available for the following quarter. At least that is how things have always been done in the past. Do not see them changing. Authorizing new visas does not create an instant fix, for most it means at least one year of waiting, and closer to two for many.

Focus should be on getting rid of the agencies that deal in slave trading and selling people to the highest bidder. If all of you concentrated on that, then things would get better, but not until that time. I hate seeing anyone getting taken advantage of or lied to and it is happening more and more each day right now.

Now that the Democrats will rule the 'house' what will happen next? The session will begin this January, will the immigration bill be the first on their list?

I doubt it I am sure they will have other things to think about and immigration will not be high on their list

And what "other things" they will have to think about?

Do not live in the US so not sure what other things but after reading a few post on here and other sites I fel immigration is not high on the list and I think the Gulf War is an issue that a lot of people would love to see resolved plus there will be a lot of issues pertaining to the US which we as living in other countries do not always see on the news.

Immigration is not high on the list, other than illegal immigration from Mexico. But there are more pressing matters such as Korea and their nuclear bomb making, Al- Queda and their new terrorist plots.

And what you do not understand, they do not start work January 3rd, they do not get sworn in that quickly, and until their offices are set up, etc., things will not get done right away. There are going to be some significant changes as to how things will be done in Washington, and again, creation of visas for foreign nurses is not high on the list, nor should it be.

If more visas were created tomorrow, it does not mean that nurses will be in the US the following week to fill gaps in schedules. It takes at least a year for anyone to get thru the process................other things should be discussed first, such as safety for the people of the US. Trying to limit gang activity would also be higher on my list.

I think they also included health care crisis in their list aside from Iraq's war and immigration. That is what I read in the papers here in Manila.

But you are leaving out the most important part of that, the newspapers in Manila create the news to their advantage.

Immigreation is high on the list here, but for illegals coming up thru Mexico, not for nurses. Two completely different things.

And sure, the new people will be sworn into office in January, but not the first week, and they do not reconvene until the middle of the month.

Quit trying to read too much into it at this point. Not one thing will be done before March..............try and be a little realistic on this. There are msny more pressing issues here.

well said...painful but this is reality... thanks for putting us back to reality...

if the retro gets lifted and US is open again for foreign nurses, how long will it last until another retro comes up?

thanks! :)

How long is a piece of string... Seriously it all depends on what they do to whether it happens again or not.. ie band aid or permanent fix, whether they release x amount of visas like they did last time or do something different with the visas

awww.... :(

its really hard to live in a third world country.
