NICU in my veins, reinstate me stat!

Nurses Retired

Published

I have 25 years at the hospital. Out for the last 8 due to illness. Missing the NICU, preemie withdrawal alert! I am desperate to get back, it is my passion, my hobby. :nurse:

I am in Ontario and overwhelmed with info about reinstatement.

Nothing clearly states 'step 1: contact____' then 'step 2: arrange for ___' :arghh:

Can anyone PLEASE help me sort this out? How do I begin the process to go back? Who do I talk to, write to, email? How did you find out what conditions you had to meet to go back? Do I have to do a refresher course, clinical hours? :geek:

Any guidance and/or shared experiences would be SO appreciated. This is very emotional for me, it is tough. I am afraid of being told 'no you cannot come back it is too late'. NOPE! Gotta think positive! :dummy:

Nurses are amazing gentle souls but tough as nails, filled with courage, fiercely protective, have sick humour and are highly intelligent! Remember to remind

yourselves of that and compliment a deserving co-worker and make them smile :) :nurse:

Contact your state BON for your next steps. Good luck!

You Should also look into a refresher course.

Specializes in ER, ICU/CCU, Open Heart OR Recovery, Etc.

Go online and start taking CEU's too. That's what I did. Your BON will ask for this.
