Retaking NCLEX - need help

Published

I am going to retake my NCLEX and I have a few questions:

Background info: I graduated with a BSN in May 2007 then took the NCLEX twice and did not pass, and now I am serving in the Army and currently deployed. I will return around April 2010 and looking to retake the NCLEX.

1. Since it has been 3 years since I have taken the NCLEX is there anything special I need to do? I graduated in Alabama and am stationed in Texas.

2. I will still owe about 2 years on my Army obligation when I redploy, is it better to wait and take the NCLEX again right before I get out because I am not sure what I would need to do to maintain my license espcially since I would not be working as a nurse.

Any help is greatly appreciated!! Just trying to figure out if it is worth me trying to study now and pass the NCLEX when I return to the states or if I need to wait.

Thanks!

A lot will depend on which state you have applied to for licensure. You may find it easier to get the NCLEX out of the way and maintain license with CEU''s which can be done online. Not sure where you hare deployed (don't want to ask too much) but you can take the NCLEX in other areas around the world so you could take it sooner if you prepare for it and there is a center near where you are based.

There is much on here that will help you to sit the exam and we have had members that took their nurse training several years ago and passed so hanfg in there and best of luck

I am deployed to Iraq
