I would check to see how the nursing schools you are applying to handle re-take courses and their grades. Some will take the higher of the 2 grades, while there are others that will average the 2 grades out. If they do the latter, I'm not sure it'd be worth retaking it, as they may average it to a "B" grade regardless. My personal policy is that, if I got a "C" in a class, then I would retake it and get an "A" so that the school I'm applying to will average it out to a "B". Again, though, I would check online or go out to the schools and see with them if it's worth bothering to retake it or not.

Good morning.
I took sociology a few years ago and received a B. Should I retake it for a better grade? I'm generally an A/A- student and that darn B is significantly lowering my gpa.
At my current school, that class is considered an additional course (not really a pre-req, per se, but it's necessary for the evening program). I do plan on taking developmental psych next semester with the hope that they'll bypass the sociology grade and look towards this one instead.
The way our program is set up, you can take either sociology or dev psych for entrance into the nursing program, and since most BSN programs want you to have DP under your belt, I figured better now than later.
What would you do? Take it over or let it be?
