Retake Pre-req, vey concern BCC

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

hello all,

well i am starting to feel discourage about me getting into the nursing program. i am a student at broward community college. i am very scared that retaking some of my pre-req will hurt my chance of getting into the rn program. i didnt get any fs just ds and withdraws. its not that i cant understand the info taught to me its just that i was going through some issues with my family, my mom was very sick and i had to work 2 jobs to help with bills. things are looking better for our family, i dont even have to work anymore so school is my top priority. i know i can do this, here is the situation........

class needed to apply for the program

chemistry

anatomy and physiology 1&2 with lab

english1

these are the grades i recieved

chemistry 1st attempt = d

2nd attempt = a

a&p 1 1st attempt= d

2nd attempt= w

i plan to retake this class this fall august 08

a&p 1 lab 1st attempt = d

i also plan to take this class again fall 08

english 1 1st attempt= w

2nd attempt=d

3rd attempt = b

my gpa so far is 2.3 or something like that i know once i take the other classes i will be getting as and bs some my gpa should go up.....if there is anyone who been the bcc or anyone with advice or suggestion i will gladly appreciate it...thanks much

Can you get forgiveness on any of your classes? When I was at FSU, they allowed you to retake 2 classes and then you could drop the low grade. The low grade stayed on your transcripts, but didn't count toward your GPA.

Also, how much does GPA matter in the program you are in? Some cc only have a grade requirement, and as long as you have that, you get on the waiting list.

girlllllllllllllllll talk to the dean of ur campus hopefully north n tell him ur situation n he will do watever to get u back on track:nuke:

You can retake classes, and they will not look at your previous grade:D

Do not limit yourself because of your school's requirements. If they do not allow repeats or renewal, then repeat the courses for the better grade, but concentrate on applying to other schools. Not every school has the same policies. I would not let a D or C stand on my transcirpts, if I could repeat and get an A. There is a school out there that will look at the A. Good luck.
