There is a new reg in the State of Illinois for IL Medicaid patients, when they are admitted then a discharge and re-admit is now required. However, I think this only applies for an admission >23 hours.
is this for medicaid skilled patient or medicaid personal care? just curious,,,as this is the way we handled our personal care side.
I live in CA (but the same thing went in Indiana and Arizona) We only do a resumption if the patient has been in the hospital for more than 23 hours. If the patient is admitted for 24 hours or more we do a transfer to inpatient, when they come out we do a resumption. They are not discharged just because of a hospital admission. Hope this helps.

Hi--
I work for a new home care company. I had a patient who was admitted to the hospital for a 23 hour observation. My boss is saying I need to discharge him and do a ROC. Is this correct? It sounds wrong to me.
